Back to School Expectations

Explicit Teaching:

  • Ask students to share what they think ‘expectations’ are. What are they?
  • Expectations are strong beliefs about the way someone should behave or something should happen.
  • Discuss the following expectations from the poster and agree on the reason why they are in place, e.g. to belong in a welcoming and kind school community, to keep us safe, to feel focused to learn, to allow others to feel good, to create a positive and happy environment for learning, to be apart of a team, etc.

Expectations

  • Wear your school uniform with pride.
  • Be organised and prepared by packing your lunch box, drink bottle, hat and pencil case.
  • Keep your hands, feet and body to yourself.
  • Play in bounds during lunch and recess.
  • Do your 5 by 5's at the end of each break.
  • Move sensibly and safely at all times.
  • Speak politely to everyone.
  • Take care of the school environment.
  • Listen to and follow instructions from adults.
