Banksia (Banksia Integrifolia)

Banksia Integrifolia is also known as Coast Banksia. It grows along the east coast of Australia, from Victoria to Queensland, especially near the beach and in sandy soils. The plant has long, dark green leaves with silvery undersides and bright yellow flower spikes that attract birds, bees and other insects.

Indigenous Australians used Banksia by soaking the flower spikes in water to make a sweet drink from the nectar. This was a refreshing and natural energy boost.

Banksia integrifolia can grow as a tree or a large shrub and is very strong, even in windy or salty conditions near the coast. It’s important for wildlife, providing food and shelter.
