Rosella (Hibiscus Sabdariffa)

Rosella (also called Hibiscus sabdariffa) is a bushy plant that grows in warm parts of northern and eastern Australia. It has bright red stems, green leaves and deep red fruit that look like flower buds. The fruit is sour and juicy.

The red calyx (the outer part of the fruit) can be used to make jams, tea and sauces. It’s rich in vitamin C and has a tangy taste, a bit like cranberry.

Rosella grows well in sunny areas and blooms in late summer. It’s popular in gardens for both its looks and tasty fruit.
