Geebung (Persoonia Lanceolata)

The Geebung plant is a native Australian plant that has been used by Indigenous Australians for food and other purposes for thousands of years. Its fruit is bitter when raw but becomes sweeter when cooked or fermented. It can then be made into jams, sauces or drinks. The seeds can also be eaten, but only after being roasted and ground, because they are toxic when raw.

Geebung was also used in traditional medicine and its wood helped make tools and shelters. This plant is important in Aboriginal culture for both food and caring for the land.
