Bottlebrush (Callistemon)

Bottlebrush is a group of plants in the Callistemon family, known for their bright red, pink or yellow flowers that look like a bottle-cleaning brush. They grow across Australia, especially in eastern regions, in bushland and along streams.

Indigenous Australians used Bottlebrush plants in different ways. They soaked the flowers in water to make a sweet drink from the nectar. Bottlebrush plants attract birds and insects and are often used in gardens today.
